Today in Tulsa, U.S. District Judge Raul M. Arias-Marxuach sentenced Melik Deshawn Davis to 76 months in prison for two counts of robbery in Indian Country. In addition to the prison term, Davis will undergo three years of supervised release and is required to pay $2,500 in restitution.
The incident occurred in September 2023 when Tulsa Police responded to a robbery at an auto repair shop. Employees reported being held at gunpoint, assaulted, and robbed. Surveillance footage and FLOCK cameras captured a vehicle leaving the scene, which led investigators to Davis. Upon questioning, Davis admitted his involvement in the crime.
Davis is identified as a citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and will remain in custody until his transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. The investigation was conducted by the FBI and Tulsa Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Dunn prosecuting.
This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The initiative focuses on building trust within communities, supporting violence prevention organizations, prioritizing strategic enforcement actions, and evaluating outcomes.
