Armond Youngblood, a 26-year-old resident of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison. The sentencing was handed down by United States District Court Judge Jennifer P. Wilson following charges of making false statements to federal agents.
Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus reported that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) interviewed Youngblood on May 13, 2021. The inquiry concerned weapons he had purchased that were later found at crime scenes. During the interview, Youngblood stated he bought three guns when records showed he actually purchased six.
The investigation was conducted by the ATF and the Harrisburg Police Borough, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael A. Consiglio prosecuting the case.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement and communities. On May 26, 2021, a strategy was launched to enhance PSN by focusing on trust-building within communities, supporting violence prevention organizations, prioritizing strategic enforcement actions, and evaluating outcomes.
The investigation benefited from leads generated by the ATF’s National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN). NIBIN enables the capture and comparison of ballistic evidence nationally to solve and prevent firearm-related crimes by linking firearms across different crime scenes.
