U.S. District Judge Sara E. Hill has sentenced Damon Michael Dozier, 41, to 15 years in prison for the sexual abuse of a minor in Indian Country. Following his imprisonment, Dozier will be under supervised release for an additional 15 years and must register as a sex offender.
In June 2023, Dozier engaged in sexually explicit activity with a minor behind a shopping mall. He acknowledged knowing that the child was only 13 years old at the time of the incident.
Dozier, a citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, will remain in custody until he is transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. The investigation was conducted by the FBI and Tulsa Police Department, while Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stephen Scaife and Steve Briden prosecuted the case.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse. PSC coordinates federal, state, and local resources to apprehend individuals who exploit children and aims to identify and rescue victims. More information about PSC can be found on the DOJ’s PSC page.
