A New Castle man has been sentenced in connection with a Newark murder case that remained unsolved for over 12 years. On February 20, Alando Dale received a sentence of 30 years in prison, with the possibility of suspension after 20 years, followed by probation. Dale, aged 35, had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in September 2024. This plea followed an investigation into a drug deal in Newark that resulted in the death of Peter DiSabatino back in 2012.

Attorney General Kathy Jennings commented on the case, stating: “It is always a tragedy when guns are used as permanent solutions to temporary problems.” She added, “Justice was served – but nothing can undo the harm done, the life taken, or the families scarred by loss. I am grateful to our prosecutors and New Castle County Police Department for their work in securing justice for this tragic loss. Our hearts are with the victim’s family.”

The incident occurred on November 12, 2012. Alando Dale and an associate met Peter DiSabatino at his car near Studio Green Apartment complex in Newark, Delaware. The meeting was intended to exchange money for two ounces of marijuana. However, DiSabatino received $800 in counterfeit bills instead. When he realized this deception, a confrontation took place during which Dale shot him twice in the chest. DiSabatino succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
