Amando Antonio Velasquez-Guevara, a 29-year-old Honduran national, has been indicted for illegal re-entry into the United States. The indictment was issued on February 14, 2025, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson. Velasquez-Guevara is charged with reentry of a removed alien, violating Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).
The indictment alleges that Velasquez-Guevara returned to the United States after being deported on October 28, 2019. If found guilty, he could face up to two years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, one year of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson emphasized that an indictment is merely a charge and that guilt must be established beyond a reasonable doubt.
Simpson commended the efforts of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement in investigating this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carter K.D. Guice Jr., from the General Crimes Unit, is leading the prosecution.
