A Guatemalan national has been sentenced to federal prison for illegally reentering the United States, as announced by Eastern District of Texas Acting U.S. Attorney Abe McGlothin, Jr.

Luis Tomas Dionicio-Coche, aged 43, admitted guilt to unlawful reentry by a deported alien and received a 12-month sentence in federal prison. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Michael Truncale on February 24, 2025.

Court documents reveal that Dionicio-Coche was apprehended on August 30, 2024, on Roberts Avenue in Beaumont. He is identified as a Guatemalan national unlawfully present in the United States. Further investigation showed that Dionicio-Coche had been deported or removed to Guatemala on three occasions: November 29, 2012; February 22, 2013; and April 11, 2019. His criminal history includes convictions for driving while intoxicated, driving under the influence, hit and run incidents, and driving with a suspended license.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John Ross.
