A Honolulu man has been sentenced to over 12 years in prison for child exploitation offenses involving multiple minors. Acting United States Attorney Kenneth M. Sorenson announced that Jonathan Farr, 31, received a sentence of 151 months imprisonment from U.S. District Judge Shanlyn A.S. Park. After serving his time, Farr will face 30 years of supervised release and is required to pay $3,000 in restitution to two minor victims. He must also register as a sex offender upon release.

Farr had pled guilty on February 14, 2024, admitting to using the internet between June 2019 and May 2020 to contact two minor females for sexually explicit conversations. He solicited and received explicit images and videos from them.

During sentencing, it was revealed that Farr groomed the minors over time and distributed their explicit content to others, including other minors. He discussed arranging travel for the minors either to Hawaii or to his location on the mainland. The court was informed that there were additional victims beyond those involved in the federal charges. Farr admitted to having sexual contact with at least three minor females and another minor in Hawaii.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative by the Department of Justice launched in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse through collaboration among federal, state, and local resources.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crimes Against Children Section conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Rebecca A. Perlmutter handled prosecution.
