Jermirria Jackson, a 48-year-old resident of Atlanta, Georgia, has been indicted on charges of aggravated identity theft and making a false statement on a passport application. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Sara C. Sweeney. If found guilty, Jackson could face a federal prison sentence ranging from a minimum of 2 years to up to 12 years.

Court records indicate that on January 19, 2022, Jackson applied for a passport using someone else's name. Before this application, she allegedly obtained identification documents in the victim's name. During the passport application process, Jackson reportedly impersonated the victim and submitted fraudulent identification as her own.

It is important to note that an indictment is merely a formal accusation of federal criminal law violations. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

The U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service conducted the investigation into this case. Assistant United States Attorney Brenna Falzetta is leading the prosecution.
