A Martin County resident has been found guilty by a federal jury in Fort Pierce for being an unlawful alien in possession of a firearm. Adam Marc Twinley, 44, from Palm City, Florida, originally entered the United States legally from the United Kingdom in 2013 on a visa designated for internationally recognized athletes and their support staff. However, he failed to leave the country when his visa expired at the end of that year.

In 2016, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) initiated removal proceedings against Twinley. These proceedings were still ongoing when he was discovered at a local gun range in October 2023 with several firearms in his possession.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne for the Southern District of Florida, Special Agent in Charge Christopher A. Robinson of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Miami Field Division, and Interim Field Office Director Juan Agudelo of ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).

The investigation was conducted by the ATF West Palm Beach Field Office and ICE ERO.

Under federal law, it is illegal for an unlawful alien to possess a firearm within the United States.
