Brian Keith Bowen Jr., a 26-year-old resident of Stilwell, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to four years in prison for child abuse. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma confirmed the sentencing.
The investigation into Bowen's actions was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cherokee Nation Marshals Service. Bowen had pleaded guilty to the charge on May 22, 2024. According to investigators, between April and May 2023, he caused harm to a child under his care. The abuse was discovered on May 2, 2023, when medical professionals noticed several injuries on the child that were consistent with abuse.
The incident took place in Adair County within the Cherokee Nation Reservation boundaries in Oklahoma's Eastern District. Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White presided over the case in the United States District Court for this district.
Bowen will remain under the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transferred to a designated facility of the United States Bureau of Prisons to serve his sentence without parole eligibility.
