Osco Lothario Jackson, a 37-year-old resident of Charlotte, has been sentenced to 64 months in prison for illegal possession of a firearm. The sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release. This was announced by Lawrence J. Cameron, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.
Bennie Mims, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Charlotte Field Division, and Chief Johnny Jennings of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) joined Acting U.S. Attorney Cameron in making the announcement.
Court documents reveal that on September 6, 2023, Jackson fired into a group that included a man and several teenagers. His shot struck his intended target in the leg. Jackson's criminal history includes multiple convictions for violent and drug-related offenses such as Assault on a Government Official/Employee and Possession With Intent to Deliver Cocaine. These prior convictions prohibit him from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Jackson pleaded guilty on June 26, 2024, to possession of a firearm by a felon. He will remain in federal custody until he is placed at a designated facility by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The case was investigated by the ATF and CMPD with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimlani Ford prosecuting.
