A Lufkin man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking and firearms violations in the Eastern District of Texas. Acting U.S. Attorney Abe McGlothin, Jr. announced that Bradley Skyler Bryan, 27, received a sentence of 175 months after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a felon. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone on February 13, 2025.
Court records reveal that Bryan was stopped for a traffic violation in April 2024 in Lufkin, where officers detected the smell of marijuana from his vehicle. A search uncovered marijuana, vape pens, pills, a significant amount of methamphetamine, and a concealed handgun. Further investigation showed Bryan had twelve prior felony convictions related to narcotics and firearms.
Authorities obtained a search warrant for Bryan’s residence, uncovering methamphetamine, cocaine, ammunition, a cell phone hidden inside a wall, surveillance equipment, and other items linked to illegal drug distribution. As a convicted felon, Bryan is barred by federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. Launched on May 26, 2021, the initiative focuses on building community trust and legitimacy while supporting organizations that prevent violence.
The investigation involved multiple agencies: the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Texas Department of Public Safety – Criminal Investigations Division; Lufkin Police Department; and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Donald Carter prosecuted the case.
