A Guatemalan citizen has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh for illegal re-entry into the United States. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced the charge against Eric Estuardo Hernandez-Ramos, 19.
The indictment alleges that Hernandez-Ramos was found in the Western District of Pennsylvania on January 25, 2025, after being removed from the United States on or about December 18, 2023.
If convicted, Hernandez-Ramos faces a maximum sentence of up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence will depend on the seriousness of the offense and his prior criminal history according to federal Sentencing Guidelines.
Assistant United States Attorney Rebecca L. Silinski is handling the prosecution for this case. The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations.
It is important to note that an indictment is merely an accusation, and Hernandez-Ramos is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
