Dontae L. Salter, a 30-year-old resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana, has been sentenced to 292 months in prison following his guilty plea to charges of distributing methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down by United States District Court Chief Judge Holly A. Brady.

In addition to the prison term, Salter will undergo five years of supervised release after serving his sentence. According to court documents, Salter was involved in distributing several pounds of methamphetamine between June and October 2023.

The investigation into Salter's activities was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Fort Wayne Safe Streets Gang Task Force. This task force includes members from the FBI, Indiana State Police, Fort Wayne Police Department, and Allen County Sheriff’s Department. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives also assisted in the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Anthony W. Geller prosecuted the case.

This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation aimed at identifying and dismantling high-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations through a collaborative effort among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Additionally, this case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program designed to reduce violent crime and gun violence by fostering trust within communities and supporting community-based violence prevention efforts. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021.
