Court of Appeals judge vacancy prompts public hearing and application deadline

According to Supreme Court Justice John R. Freudenberg, a public hearing will be held by the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Court of Appeals in the Fourth Judicial District. This hearing is scheduled for March 20, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. CST at the Sarpy County Courthouse in Papillion, Nebraska. The commission will gather information on candidates to fill the vacancy left by Judge David K. Arterburn's retirement.

Interested individuals can obtain an application package from the Nebraska Judicial Branch website. Completed applications must be submitted by February 27, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. CST either electronically or by mail as specified in the application package instructions. Applicants are advised to ensure their submissions are received on time since deadlines cannot be extended due to delivery issues.

After the deadline, a public notice will list candidates and provide details on how to offer testimony or submit information regarding this judicial vacancy.
