Brandon Salyers, a 31-year-old resident of Columbus, Nebraska, was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison on February 6, 2025. The sentence was handed down by Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., following Salyers's conviction for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. After completing his prison term, Salyers will serve a three-year period of supervised release. There is no parole available in the federal system.

The case against Salyers began with law enforcement conducting controlled drug purchases from him in late 2023. On October 29, officers bought 3.5 grams of methamphetamine from Salyers. The following day, another purchase involved 12 grams of the drug. A month later, on November 30, less than one gram was acquired during a similar operation. Finally, on December 28, Salyers was arrested with 12 grams of methamphetamine in his possession along with glass pipes and 39 grams of marijuana.

The investigation leading to these charges was conducted by the Columbus Police Department.
