Okemah resident pleads guilty to armed assault on Muscogee Creek Nation Reservation

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has reported that Gregory Dwayne Guinn, also known as Gregory Dewayne Guinn, aged 23 and from Okemah, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to charges related to an armed felony assault. Guinn admitted guilt to one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Do Bodily Harm in Indian Country and one count of Use, Carry, Brandish, and Discharge of a Firearm During and In Relation to a Crime of Violence.

According to the indictment, on January 15, 2024, Guinn committed an assault using a dangerous weapon with the intent to cause bodily harm. It was further alleged that he knowingly used, carried, brandished, and discharged a firearm during this crime of violence. These incidents took place in Okfuskee County within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation boundaries in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The investigation leading to these charges was conducted by the Okfuskee County Sheriff's Office along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Honorable Jason A. Robertson, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma accepted Guinn's plea and has ordered a presentence investigation report be completed. Until sentencing is finalized, Guinn will remain under the custody of the United States Marshals Service.
