An Evansville, Indiana man has been sentenced to over 13 years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl that led to a fatality. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett of the Western District of Kentucky, DEA Chicago Field Division Special Agent in Charge Sheila G. Lyons, and Henderson Police Department Chief Billy Bolin.
Austin Jenkins, aged 26, received a sentence of 13 years and 7 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release. He was charged with one count of distribution of fentanyl resulting in death. This incident led to the death of a 17-year-old individual in Henderson, Kentucky on October 16, 2022.
The investigation was conducted by the DEA and the Henderson Police Department with support from the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office in Indiana. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank Dahl.
In the federal system, parole is not an option.
