The Oregon Department of Justice has updated its online Sanctuary Toolkit in response to changing federal immigration policies. The department aims to keep communities informed with the latest guidance as directives from the federal administration continue to shift.
"Oregon has always been a state that values inclusivity and fairness," stated Attorney General Dan Rayfield. "With the chaos and confusion from the Trump administration in these first few weeks, it is crucial we adapt our resources to reflect any changes in policy, with the fire hose of executive orders unleashed from the White House."
The toolkit now includes updated resources for specific communities, sensitive areas, and frontline workers. It provides guidance for public schools, healthcare settings, and law enforcement agencies.
Additionally, the Oregon Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Unit has conducted numerous community trainings and plans over 100 more in upcoming months. The department offers hotline numbers and links to its websites SanctuaryPromise.oregon.gov and PromesaSantuario.oregon.gov for further assistance.
