A federal inmate has been sentenced to 51 months in prison for assaulting a corrections officer, as announced by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and FBI Special Agent in Charge Carlton Peeples.

Christopher McCallum received the sentence from U.S. District Court Judge R. David Proctor following his guilty plea in September 2024 to the charge of assaulting an officer.

The plea agreement detailed that McCallum, who was serving time at FCI Talladega for a previous federal conviction, became disruptive on February 29, 2024. He approached staff with clenched fists and assaulted a female corrections officer by punching her in the head and upper torso, resulting in multiple injuries.

The FBI conducted the investigation into the incident, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Brad Felton handled the prosecution.
