A Hot Springs man has been sentenced to 170 months in federal prison for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense. The sentencing was overseen by Chief Judge Susan O. Hickey at the United States District Court in Hot Springs.
Court records reveal that on September 13, 2023, Deangelo Michael Lover, aged 34, sold 24 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant. On September 15, 2023, Lover attempted another sale to the informant. This led Hot Springs Police Investigators from the Special Investigation Division to collaborate with Arkansas State Police to conduct a traffic stop on Lover's vehicle. During this stop, Lover was arrested due to an outstanding warrant. A subsequent search uncovered 46 grams of methamphetamine and a handgun.
Lover pleaded guilty on September 30, 2024, to possession of more than five grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes.
The case was investigated by the Hot Springs Police Department Special Investigation Division and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Trent Daniels.
