Robert Keshian Norwood, a 72-year-old resident of Oklahoma City, has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for illegal possession of firearms following a previous felony conviction. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
Norwood was charged on April 2, 2024, by a federal Grand Jury with being a felon in possession of firearms. On February 1, 2024, officers from the United States Probation Office searched Norwood's apartment as part of his supervised release conditions. This search revealed ten firearms and numerous rounds of ammunition. Norwood was on supervised release after a prior federal conviction for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
On July 1, 2024, Norwood pleaded guilty and admitted to possessing the firearms despite his previous felony conviction.
U.S. District Judge Joe Heaton sentenced Norwood on January 29, 2025, to serve 72 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. Judge Heaton highlighted Norwood's extensive criminal history during the sentencing.
Public records indicate that Norwood's criminal record includes several federal felony convictions in the Western District of Oklahoma and multiple felony convictions in Oklahoma County District Court for various offenses ranging from drug-related crimes to burglary and robbery.
The case resulted from an investigation conducted by the United States Probation Office and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary E. Walters.
