Jacksonville, Florida – A Guatemalan national, Pedro Alberto Martin-Xon, has been indicted for illegal reentry into the United States. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg. If found guilty, Martin-Xon could face up to two years in federal prison. His arraignment is scheduled for February 6, 2025.

The indictment states that Martin-Xon was deported from the U.S. on January 3, 2019. After his deportation, he did not obtain permission from the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security to return to the country. On January 26, 2025, he was discovered in St. Johns County.

An indictment is a formal accusation and does not imply guilt; defendants are presumed innocent until proven otherwise.

The investigation is being conducted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection alongside the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Elisibeth Adams is handling the prosecution.
