U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced the sentencing of Coy David Miller, a 49-year-old resident of Youngsville, Louisiana. On January 15, 2025, Miller was sentenced for possession of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors, violating Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2252(a)(4)(B) and (b)(2).

Court documents reveal that on October 17, 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and special agents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security conducted a search on Miller at Louis Armstrong International Airport upon his return from Cancun, Mexico. Federal agents discovered images and videos of pre-pubescent child pornography in his possession.

Senior United States District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle sentenced Miller to 46 months in prison followed by ten years of supervised release. Additionally, he was fined $10,000 and is required to register as a sex offender.

This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project brings together federal, state, and local resources to apprehend individuals exploiting children online and to identify victims.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office acknowledged the support from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection in this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba, Chief of the Financial Crimes Unit, is handling the prosecution.
