Tyson Davis Sr., a 45-year-old resident of Huntington, West Virginia, has been sentenced to seven years and two months in prison for distributing fentanyl and violating supervised release. Following his prison term, he will be subject to three years of supervised release.

Court documents reveal that on June 14, 2023, Davis sold approximately 2.93 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant in a parked vehicle in Huntington. He admitted to this transaction. Investigators conducted three more controlled purchases with Davis using the same informant on June 8, August 3, and October 24, 2023. Over these four transactions, Davis sold a total of 24.057 grams of substances containing fentanyl.

Laboratory analysis indicated that the drugs sold by Davis on June 8 and June 14 were at least 58 percent pure fentanyl. The substance from August 3 was found to be at least 46 percent pure fentanyl. Typically, seized fentanyl ranges from only 0.5 percent to 7 percent purity according to investigators.

Davis's criminal record includes several convictions related to drugs and firearms offenses. At the time of this latest offense, he was serving a supervised release term due to a May 17, 2021 conviction for possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. His current sentence includes an additional two years and six months for committing a crime while under supervised release.

United States Attorney Will Thompson announced the sentencing and praised the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Cabell County Sheriff's Office, and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The sentence was imposed by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers with Assistant United States Attorney Lesley C. Shamblin prosecuting the case.
