A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to 120 months in prison for attempting to entice a minor into prostitution. Acting U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna announced the sentencing of Louis Goldenberg, 41, who had previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Christine P. O’Hearn.
Goldenberg was charged with one count of attempted online enticement of a minor. Court documents and statements revealed that in August 2023, Goldenberg began communicating via a messaging app with an undercover agent posing as a woman with a 12-year-old niece. Over the course of several weeks, he expressed interest in engaging in sexual activities with the minor and suggested meeting at a hotel in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey.
On September 18, 2023, Goldenberg traveled from Pennsylvania to the specified hotel where he had made a reservation and was subsequently arrested by law enforcement upon arrival.
In addition to his prison sentence, Judge O’Hearn imposed five years of supervised release on Goldenberg and mandated that he register as a sex offender.
Acting U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna acknowledged the efforts of special agents and task force officers from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Newark under Acting Special Agent in Charge Spiros Karabinas for their role in the investigation. He also extended thanks to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and Mount Laurel Police Department for their assistance.
The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Katelyn Waegener from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Camden.
Goldenberg's defense counsel is Rocco C. Cipparone, Jr., Esq.
