Two men from Brooklyn Park have admitted their involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking operation that spanned central and northern Minnesota. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick.
Court documents reveal that on June 22, 2024, a traffic stop was conducted by a Minnesota State Patrol trooper on Highway 10 in Royalton, Minnesota. The vehicle stopped was a white Ford Expedition. During the approach, the trooper observed signs indicative of drug trafficking, including items such as a screwdriver, flashlight, black electric tape, loose panels around the radio and center console, and remnants of marijuana. The driver, Dillon Peter-Cody Clemens, aged 38, along with his passenger Jacob Seth Cobb, aged 30, both had revoked licenses at the time. They claimed they were traveling to Motley, Minnesota to buy a motorcycle but failed to provide details about the seller.
The trooper's K9 unit was deployed and alerted to potential drugs near the driver's side door seam. A search led to the discovery of what appeared to be a one-pound package of methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Both Clemens and Cobb were subsequently arrested.
Following their arrest, Clemens and Cobb faced charges of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Clemens entered his guilty plea in U.S. District Court before Judge Katherine M. Menendez for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Cobb also pleaded guilty to the same charge before Judge Menendez on January 21, 2025. Sentencing dates for both individuals are yet to be determined.
The investigation into this case was carried out by the Minnesota State Patrol and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Syngen Kanassatega is handling the prosecution of this case.
