Robert Earl Cureton Jr., also known as "Black Rob," has pleaded guilty to the federal crime of distributing methamphetamine. The Detroit resident, aged 40, admitted to selling approximately 54 grams of methamphetamine on January 12, 2024, to a confidential informant in Huntington's 2400 block of Collis Avenue.

Cureton acknowledged arranging the transaction and confessed to two additional sales. On November 9, 2023, he sold about 18.6 grams of fentanyl for $1,300 and on December 7, 2023, approximately 55 grams of methamphetamine for $380. Both transactions were conducted with a confidential informant in the same area.

Further details revealed that Cureton traveled from Michigan to Cincinnati by Greyhound bus on November 26, 2024. From there, he took a rideshare vehicle to Huntington while carrying a suitcase containing roughly 5.08 kilograms of methamphetamine. Law enforcement stopped the vehicle at the 900 block of 7th Avenue in Huntington and arrested Cureton based on an outstanding warrant related to this offense. Officers seized the suitcase and found approximately $4,566 in cash with Cureton, which he admitted were proceeds from drug sales.

Cureton is set for sentencing on May 12, 2025. He could face up to twenty years imprisonment along with at least three years supervised release and a fine amounting up to one million dollars.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Will Thompson who praised both the Huntington Police Department and the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force for their investigative efforts.

United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over Cureton's hearing while Assistant United States Attorney Courtney L. Finney prosecutes this case.
