Robbie Terrell Clark, a 27-year-old resident of Washington D.C., received a 108-month federal prison sentence for his involvement in the kidnapping and robbery of two individuals in Alexandria, Virginia. The sentencing was delivered by U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson after Clark pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit kidnapping on May 21, 2024.
The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr. for the District of Columbia and FBI Special Agent in Charge Sean Ryan from the Washington Field Office Criminal and Cyber Division. In addition to his prison term, Clark will undergo four years of supervised release.
Court documents reveal that Clark and his accomplices tracked their victims before abducting and robbing them at gunpoint within their apartment building in Alexandria on September 2, 2022. The group had placed a GPS device on one victim's Mercedes to monitor their movements.
On September 3, 2022, after attending a family event in Maryland, the victims were ambushed by Clark and his co-conspirators upon returning home. Armed with guns and wearing disguises, they stole luxury watches valued at $120,000, jewelry worth $63,500, clothing, and car keys from the victims.
Following the robbery and physical assault on the victims, the perpetrators forced them into an apartment where they continued to demand money until a security alarm went off. They fled shortly before 2 a.m. on September 4, leaving behind evidence such as plastic zip ties.
Clark was apprehended on August 16, 2023, following an investigation led by the FBI Washington Field Office's Violent Crimes Task Force with assistance from Fairfax County Police Department.
Clark’s accomplice Tyree McCombs also pleaded guilty to related charges on August 14, 2024. McCombs is awaiting sentencing for this case and another kidnapping incident that occurred two months later.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles Jones is prosecuting the case for the District of Columbia.
