Matthew M. Graves U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia

U.S. Attorney Edward Martin issued a statement following an order from U.S. District Judge Mehta to amend the conditions of release in case number 1:22-cr-15 (USA v. RHODES, III et al). The case has drawn attention due to its implications on legal proceedings and pardons.

Martin commented on hypothetical scenarios involving notable figures such as Jim Biden and General Mark Milley, stating, "If a judge decided that Jim Biden, General Mark Milley, or another individual were forbidden to visit America’s capital—even after receiving a last-minute, preemptive pardon from the former President—I believe most Americans would object."

He emphasized the status of the individuals involved in the motion by noting, "The individuals referenced in our motion have had their sentences commuted – period, end of sentence."

The United States' motion seeks to vacate supervised release and probation for those affected by this case.
