A Morrisdale, Pennsylvania resident has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for his involvement in methamphetamine trafficking. Shane Hoover, 33, received the sentence from United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan on January 22, 2025. Following his prison term, Hoover will be subject to five years of supervised release.
The conviction stems from activities between November 2019 and June 2020 in the Western District of Pennsylvania. During this period, Hoover conspired with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute over 500 grams of a methamphetamine mixture. Evidence presented in court included federal wiretap interceptions that captured Hoover obtaining quantities of the drug for distribution.
Assistant United States Attorney Maureen Sheehan-Balchon led the prosecution on behalf of the government. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti acknowledged the efforts of various law enforcement agencies that contributed to the investigation and successful prosecution of Hoover. The Drug Enforcement Administration and Pennsylvania State Police were notably commended for their roles.
Additional agencies involved in this investigation include the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation; United States Postal Inspection Service; Homeland Security Investigations; Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General; Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office; Erie County District Attorney’s Office; Millcreek Police Department; Erie Bureau of Police; and other local law enforcement entities.
This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative aimed at dismantling high-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations through a collaborative approach involving multiple agencies.
