The Safe and Healthy Families Initiative will hold its second annual Bob Moyer Memorial Award for Excellence in Domestic Violence Informed Practice on Thursday, February 6, 2025. The event will take place at the Lancaster County Courthouse Court Room 40, located at 575 S 10th St, Lincoln, NE 68508.

The initiative aims to honor a member of the Lancaster County community who has demonstrated excellence in informed practice regarding domestic violence. Additionally, the event marks two years since the Lancaster County Safe and Healthy Families Court was recognized as an approved problem-solving court.

The Safe and Healthy Families Court offers an alternative route through the juvenile court system for families dealing with domestic violence. It employs a specialized team process within the existing court structure.

Those interested in attending or seeking more information are encouraged to contact Taileigh Sorensen, Problem-Solving Court Coordinator, at 402-441-7695.

The Nebraska judicial system is structured under the administrative direction of the Supreme Court. It includes courts such as the Supreme Court itself, Court of Appeals, district courts, county courts, separate juvenile courts in Douglas, Lancaster, and Sarpy Counties, and a statewide Workers’ Compensation Court.
