Antelope County Clerk Magistrate Linda Mitchell has announced her retirement, effective April 16, 2025, after more than four decades of service to the Judicial Branch. Her career has been marked by dedication and a willingness to take on extra responsibilities.
County Court Judge Donna Taylor reflected on Mitchell's career, saying, “Linda came to the Antelope County Court around the same time I did. We celebrated her wedding and the births of her three children. From the outset, Linda was always ready to learn, eager to help, and willing to take on extra duties—even before there was financial recognition for them. When other counties needed help, she was always glad to assist.”
Judge Taylor also highlighted Mitchell's eagerness in embracing new programs and assisting colleagues with their queries. She added that their shared commutes have been particularly enjoyable: “Over the last ten years or so, we have shared rides from Neligh to Center, and our morning and evening rides have become a highlight of the week for me.”
Taylor acknowledged that while Mitchell’s retirement is well-earned, it represents "a loss of one of the best employees we will ever have."
Mitchell has received accolades during her tenure, including being named Judicial Branch Employee of the Year and Outstanding Clerk Magistrate.
