A Roanoke man has been sentenced to a decade in federal prison for his involvement in a scheme to steal firearms from a Virginia pawnshop. Ronald Perry, 42, from Radford, Virginia, had previously admitted guilt to the charge of providing a firearm to a felon.

Perry was among several individuals charged with participating in the burglary at the pawnshop. Other defendants included Malcolm Stanton and Michael Hall. Additionally, Justin Cumbee and Austin Hixon faced charges as prohibited persons in possession of firearms. Both Cumbee and Stanton received sentences of ten years each.

Court documents revealed that on November 1, 2022, Perry broke into 1st Pawn and stole approximately 15 firearms. These were subsequently divided between him, Stanton, and Hall. Several of these firearms were later sold or traded illegally for drugs.

The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Zachary T. Lee alongside Anthony Spotswood, Special Agent in Charge of the Washington Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The investigation involved multiple agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; United States Marshals Service; Radford Police Department; Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office; Pulaski County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office; Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office; Christiansburg Police Department; Virginia State Police Search and Recovery Team; and Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kelly McGann and Lee Brett.
