Providence County Grand Jury returns multiple indictments

An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

On January 17, 2025, the Providence County Grand Jury returned several indictments involving multiple individuals accused of various crimes.

Malick Santos, aged 26 from Providence, has been charged with one count of first-degree robbery, two counts of assault with a device similar in appearance to a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of large capacity magazines, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a firearm while possessing with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and assaulting a police officer. The alleged incidents took place in Providence on June 2 and June 13, 2024. His arraignment is set for January 22, 2025.

Julien Santiago and Jalen Santiago have both been indicted for first-degree murder among other charges related to an incident on August 25, 2024. They are scheduled for arraignment on January 29, 2025.

Jose Diaz faces similar charges as the Santiago defendants concerning the same date and location. His arraignment will also occur on January 29.

Dwayne Gibson has been charged with manslaughter for actions allegedly occurring between August 24 and August 31 in Providence. He will be arraigned on February 5.

Donald O’Brien is facing charges for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death from November 24, 2023. His court date is set for January 29.

Kevin Gallagher has been indicted for driving under the influence resulting in death and reckless driving resulting in death due to events on May 30. His arraignment is scheduled for January 28.

Donovan Rivera Medina from Woonsocket has been charged with possession of more than one kilogram of cocaine and intent to deliver a controlled substance following an investigation by the Rhode Island State Police into events on October 17. He will appear in court on February 5.

The Providence Police Department conducted investigations into all but one case listed above.
