Michael Dwayne Kelly II, 35, and Savannah Elizabeth Todd, 32, both residents of Beckley, West Virginia, have been sentenced to prison for federal drug offenses. Kelly received a sentence of four years and ten months, while Todd was sentenced to three years and ten months. Both sentences will be followed by three years of supervised release. The charges stem from their involvement in the possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin.

Court documents reveal that on January 27, 2022, Kelly sold approximately 6.9 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant for $700 at a residence in Beckley. He later admitted to selling an additional 28 grams of fentanyl to the same informant for $500 on February 10, 2022.

Todd's involvement included selling approximately 3.5 grams of fentanyl for $550 to a confidential informant on February 8, 2022. A search warrant executed by law enforcement officers at the Beckley residence on February 17, 2022 led to the discovery of Kelly and Todd along with significant quantities of drugs and firearms. Officers seized 189 grams of fentanyl, 56 grams of cocaine, and 27 grams of heroin among other items including several firearms and $13,046 in cash. Both Kelly and Todd admitted their intentions to distribute these drugs within the Southern District of West Virginia.

United States Attorney Will Thompson acknowledged the efforts made by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) alongside the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit in this case. This unit includes officers from the West Virginia State Police, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, and Beckley Police Department.

The sentences were imposed by Chief United States District Judge Frank W. Volk with Assistant United States Attorney Brian D. Parsons prosecuting the case.
