Two Massachusetts men have been found guilty in a drug trafficking conspiracy trial in Bangor, Maine. The verdict was delivered in the U.S. District Court after a 10-day bench trial before Judge Stacey D. Neumann.
The court records indicate that Daquan Corbett, 30, and Daviston Jackson, 28, were involved in trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl from January 2018 to December 2021 across Penobscot and Aroostook counties. Both men now face potential sentences ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment, along with fines up to $10 million and supervised release for five years to life.
In total, twenty-one individuals have been charged in connection with this northern Maine drug trafficking operation. Ten of these defendants have already received their sentences:
- Andrew Adams (32) from Aroostook County received a sentence of 10 years.
- Wayne Smith (33) from Bangor was sentenced to 85 months.
- Danielle McBreairty (34) from Glenburn received a sentence of 20 years.
- Blaine Footman (38) from Bangor was sentenced to five years.
- Nicole Footman (41) from Holden received three years.
- Dwight Gary Jr. (54) from Medway was given time served.
- Matthew Catalano (38) from Penobscot County was sentenced to 165 months.
- Thomas Hammond (26) from Charleston received an 84-month sentence.
- Christopher Coty (44) from Bangor was sentenced to four years.
- James King (55) from Caribou received a sentence of 165 months.
Eleven defendants are still awaiting sentencing, including Corbett and Jackson. Their sentencing dates are scheduled for February.
The investigation involved multiple agencies: the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Maine Drug Enforcement Agency; and police departments across Orono, Bangor, Brewer, Caribou, Presque Isle, and Houlton. U.S. Attorney Darcie McElwee acknowledged the collaboration with the Maine State Attorney General’s Office and the Aroostook County District Attorney’s Office.
This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces investigation aimed at dismantling high-level drug traffickers using a multi-agency approach.
