Erik S. Siebert has assumed the role of Interim United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA). In this position, he oversees federal crime prosecutions and civil litigation where the United States is involved. He leads a team of about 300 staff members across four divisions in Alexandria, Richmond, Norfolk, and Newport News, serving a population of over six million.

Siebert's career with EDVA began in 2010 as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. His work included cases on violent crime, drug trafficking, firearms offenses, fraud, child exploitation, illegal immigration, and public corruption. He also held the position of Lead Task Force Attorney for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) for EDVA and served as Deputy Criminal Supervisor for the Richmond Division from 2019 to 2024.

His prosecutorial achievements have earned him several awards such as the 2018 OCDETF Mid-Atlantic Region Case of the Year Award and the 2024 Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Award for “Outstanding Community Impact Investigation.”

Before his tenure at the Department of Justice, Siebert worked as a police officer with Washington D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department from 2002 to 2006. He also clerked for Judge Henry E. Hudson at the United States District Court for EDVA from 2009 to 2010.

Siebert graduated with cum laude honors from the University of Richmond Law School in 2009 and received his B.A., with distinction, from Virginia Military Institute in 2001.
