New York Attorney General Letitia James has commented on the tentative ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. The agreement includes the release of Israeli hostages, a pause in fighting, and the release of Palestinian prisoners.
"Millions of New Yorkers have strong ties to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, with many having family and loved ones who are directly impacted by the hostage crisis and resulting war," stated Attorney General James. She expressed hope that this ceasefire would not only end the current conflict but also contribute to lasting peace in the region.
Attorney General James also addressed concerns about rising antisemitism, Islamophobia, hate-based crimes, and disruptive protests within New York State due to the conflict. "As this war hopefully comes to an end, I urge all New Yorkers to stand together in the face of hatred and intolerance, and to remember that what unites us is far stronger than what divides us," she said.
