New York Attorney General Letitia James has commented on the recent changes to the New York City Police Department's vehicle pursuit policies. The new guidelines aim to restrict pursuits to enhance safety for both officers and the public.

Attorney General James stated, "New Yorkers should never have to fear for their safety on our streets. Too often, vehicle pursuits for minor offenses put innocent bystanders in harm’s way, and NYPD officers deserve clear rules and guidance that will allow them to pursue criminals without endangering others."

The policy adjustments are intended to provide clearer directives for officers during pursuits, minimizing risks associated with high-speed chases. James expressed her support for these changes, emphasizing their role in safeguarding both law enforcement personnel and citizens.

"I welcome these policy changes that will protect both the police and the public, and enable the NYPD to better protect our city," she added.

The new policies reflect a commitment to improving safety measures while maintaining effective law enforcement practices in New York City.
