Charles Page, a former police lieutenant, and his son Treyvon Ladonte Page have been sentenced to prison for drug trafficking offenses committed in 2021 and 2022. Charles Page received a 48-month sentence, while Treyvon was sentenced to 120 months. At the time of his crimes, Charles Page was serving as a law enforcement officer with the Ayden Police Department.
U.S. Attorney Michael F. Easley, Jr., commented on the case: "This police lieutenant, a 13-year veteran of the force, used his official position to access confidential databases and share intelligence to advance his son’s drug trafficking." He emphasized that public officials breaching trust would not be tolerated.
Court documents revealed that in July 2021, authorities began investigating Treyvon for distributing drugs in Pitt County. The investigation involved controlled purchases from Treyvon between November 2021 and August 2022. Surveillance indicated Treyvon visited a residence owned by his father near the times of these transactions.
On September 20, 2022, law enforcement executed search warrants across Pitt County. At Charles Page's home, they seized significant quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, and firearms.
Interviews with cooperating sources revealed that Charles was aware of Treyvon's activities and provided him with confidential information from law enforcement databases. This included advising on active warrants and sharing identities from investigations.
Charles Page resigned following the execution of the search warrant. Further investigation showed he had repeatedly accessed confidential databases concerning Treyvon and his associates.
The sentencing announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Michael F. Easley Jr., after proceedings before U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan. The investigation involved multiple agencies including the FBI and local law enforcement bodies.
