United States District Judge Thomas P. Barber has sentenced Esteban Suarez Trejo, a 33-year-old Mexican national, to 33 months in federal prison for illegal reentry into the United States after deportation as a felon. Suarez Trejo had entered a guilty plea on October 4, 2024.
Court documents reveal that Suarez Trejo was previously convicted of aggravated assault on January 4, 2010, which led to his deportation from the United States to Mexico. Despite this, he reentered the country illegally.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE-ERO) and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick L. Darcey.
