Jeffrey Adam Windbigler, a 32-year-old resident of Guthrie, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 16 months in federal prison for communicating threats. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

Windbigler faced a four-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury on February 20, 2024. The charges were related to threatening messages he posted on social media in January 2024. These messages included threats to kill children and "shoot up" the Edmond public library, an Oklahoma school, and a Texas school.

On October 31, 2024, Windbigler pleaded guilty to Count 1 of the indictment. He admitted to making threats against children and schools and acknowledged that his communications would be perceived as threatening.

U.S. District Judge Stephen P. Friot handed down the sentence at today's hearing. In addition to the prison term, Windbigler will undergo three years of supervised release following his incarceration. Judge Friot cited Windbigler's history and apparent obsession with violence as factors in determining the sentence. The judge emphasized the need for adequate incapacitation and deterrence of similar conduct.

The FBI Oklahoma City Field Office conducted the investigation leading to this case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Dillon handling the prosecution.

Further details can be found in public filings.
