A Marion, Iowa man has been sentenced to 210 months in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor. Cory Gall, 30, was found guilty by a jury on July 3, 2024. Evidence presented during the trial revealed that in December 2023, Gall exchanged text messages with an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. The individual was actually an undercover law enforcement officer.
Gall sent messages detailing sexual acts and traveled to Hiawatha, Iowa, intending to meet the minor. United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams handed down the sentence in Cedar Rapids. In addition to his prison term, Gall will serve five years of supervised release. The federal system does not allow parole.
Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel prosecuted the case. It was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Hiawatha Police Department.
