Fidel Chamorro-Ramirez, aged 19, was convicted on December 10, 2024, of Rape Second Degree in Sussex County Superior Court. The case involved the rape of a then 12-year-old child when Chamorro-Ramirez was 18 in 2023.
Attorney General Kathy Jennings commented on the conviction: “The defendant’s actions are incomprehensible. Protecting our children is absolutely paramount. I am deeply grateful to our prosecutors and the Delaware State Police for their dedication in this case as we look forward to the sentencing. Our hearts are with the victim and their family.”
The incident occurred on June 1, 2023, when Chamorro-Ramirez, residing in Seaford, Delaware at that time, raped the victim at their home in Seaford. He now faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years and up to 25 years in prison without enhancements. Sentencing is set for February 7, 2025.
