James Valley Drug & DUI Court is set to host a graduation ceremony on January 16, 2025, at the Davison County Fairgrounds in Mitchell. The event will commence at 2:30 p.m. CST and will feature Grant Lanning, the Davison County Jail Administrator and U.S. Army veteran, as the keynote speaker.

The ceremony marks a significant milestone for participants who have completed the court's intensive program. It is an opportunity for graduates to celebrate their achievements with friends and family. The public and media are invited to attend.

Established in 2013, James Valley Drug Court expanded in 2014 to include a DUI Court track. The program offers an alternative to traditional criminal case processing by focusing on rehabilitation through intensive treatment and supervision. This approach aims to reduce repeat offenses and substance use disorders, contributing to safer communities and lowering correctional costs.

Treatment courts like James Valley's have shown effectiveness in addressing substance use and mental health issues while reducing recidivism rates. They combine supervision, treatment, and support to guide individuals toward stability and recovery.
