Attorney General Kris Mayes announced the sentencing of Tomas Gamez-Robles in Pima County Superior Court on December 30, 2024. Gamez-Robles pleaded guilty to several felonies, including Attempt to Transport a Narcotic Drug for Sale, Weapons Misconduct – Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Drug Felony, and Illegally Conducting an Enterprise.

“Individuals who transport deadly drugs into our communities will be held accountable,” stated Attorney General Kris Mayes. “My office will continue to use every tool at our disposal to combat the spread of dangerous drugs and protect Arizonans.”

Gamez-Robles received concurrent sentences: 3.5 years for Attempt to Transport a Narcotic Drug for Sale, 3.5 years for Illegally Conducting an Enterprise, and 2.5 years for Weapons Misconduct. He was also ordered to pay $4,500 to the State Anti-Racketeering Revolving Fund and to forfeit the firearm involved in his case.

His arrest took place on March 5, 2024, in Pima County, Arizona. At that time, he attempted to transport 1.429 pounds of fentanyl pills and was found with a firearm and approximately 0.128 pounds of methamphetamine intended for sale. Investigations revealed his involvement in a criminal enterprise conducting activities through racketeering by trafficking fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, and heroin.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety led the investigation while Assistant Attorney General Sabrina Lochner prosecuted the case.
