Lenard Ray Bond, a 31-year-old resident of Hartshorne, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for failing to register as a sex offender. This will be followed by five years of supervised release. The sentencing was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The investigation leading to these charges was conducted by the United States Marshals Service Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force and the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office. Bond pleaded guilty on May 8, 2024, to an indictment of one count of failure to register as a sex offender.

Bond's legal obligations stem from an August 8, 2014 conviction in Oklahoma for second-degree rape, which required him to register as a sex offender and report any changes in residency to law enforcement. However, between April 14, 2019, and March 15, 2024, Bond failed repeatedly to comply with this requirement while living at various residences within Indian country in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White presided over the hearing in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Bond is currently in custody under the U.S. Marshals Service and will be transported to a designated facility under the United States Bureau of Prisons to serve his non-paroleable sentence.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Emily Wittlinger and Jessica Bove represented the prosecution on behalf of the United States.
