Muskogee County man pleads guilty to possessing child exploitation material

Thomas Edward Gailus, a 51-year-old resident of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to charges related to the possession of child sexual abuse material. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the plea.

The indictment stated that between April 2018 and March 23, 2023, Gailus knowingly accessed and possessed visual depictions from the internet showing minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. It was alleged that he accessed these images with the intent to view them.

The case stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The plea was accepted by Judge D. Edward Snow, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. A presentence investigation report has been ordered following this development.

Gailus will remain in custody under the supervision of the United States Marshals Service until sentencing is completed.
