United States Attorney Delia L. Smith announced that Jamoi Weekes, a 30-year-old resident of St. Croix, has pleaded guilty to the charge of influencing federal officials by threats. The plea was entered before Magistrate Judge Emile A. Henderson III. Weekes' sentencing is set for March 19, 2025, where he could face up to ten years in prison. The final sentence will be determined by a federal judge after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.

Court documents reveal that on August 31, 2024, Weekes attempted to board a flight at Henry E. Rohlsen Airport in St. Croix but was referred for secondary inspection by Customs and Border Protection (CBP). During this process, Weekes became irate and combative, threatening to murder and retaliate against officers if he saw them again. He was deemed unsuitable to board his flight and ordered to leave the airport.

While leaving the airport premises, Weekes encountered two Virgin Islands Port Authority officers whom he also threatened with murder. Instead of departing the area as instructed, he followed two CBP officers from the terminal to the parking lot and repeated his threats.

The investigation into these incidents was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA). Assistant United States Attorney Daniel Huston is handling the prosecution of this case.
